I'm in the mood for a good adventure, thriller, or fantasy. Any recommendations?

I think a good "guy" beach read would be the Jack Reacher series. I've read them all and I'm a chick. They make me wanna be a bad ass.

I'd recommend "The Bone Clocks" by David Mitchell. "The Passage" is another good read.

My neighbor highly recommended The Martian to me this weekend. He said it was a great read.

Codex Alera series by Jim Butcher is real good. 6 books in all, starts with Furies of Calderon. Easy read, good fantasy series.

For a thriller, pretty much anything by Dean Koontz or Harlan Coben.

If you like historical adventure, Wilbur Smith is the best.

I don't read much fantasy and what I have read I doubt would appeal to a guy. So no help there, sorry...

Sorry I haven't revisited this post for a bit. Thank you for the ideas. My teenage daughter loaned me a book called "The Graveyard Book" and I'm really liking it. I generally like books for younger readers. There's something so positive and imaginative about them.

I'm a slow reader (maybe the real reason why I like books for kids ), but I'm going to save your suggestions and revisit when I finally finish this one.

Anything Gillian Flynn. Gone Girl was ok but the others were fantastic. Highly recommend.
